The student should get a counsellor from the company who can provide professional supervision during the placement. The task of the company counsellor is to ensure that the students do make every possible effort, and is put in a position to achieve the traineeship objectives. He or she will give feed back on :
the functioning of the trainee within the company,
the progress of the assignment,
the progress on his projects.
The student should thoroughly prepare these meetings by preparing the agenda and by making sure that the counsellor is well informed about the progress of the student.
Agenda items which should regularly recur are:
- assignment (progress; bottlenecks, planning);
- projects (efforts and results; planning);
- functioning within the company (independence; social skills; working in a team; etc.)
In evaluating the introductory placement, the judgment of the company counsellor will be taken into account in an advisory capacity.
